it's been so long
since i've seen an eclipse
heard the thunderous roar of the feedback
and the memories of
lightning strikes and white glowing eyes
of the angels that took my friends from me
they all came rushing back

i blink my eyes
and the world around me has barely changed
so give me a break
so leave my selfish body on its own

sweep me away
let the flood wash over and take me away
let the void consume me just for a day

the power's still out
the rain's still pummeling down
but the sound isn't loud enough
to drown out the past
i watched my friends get hurt
i watched my friends get burned
i watched my friends tell me "i love you too"
as i stared out the airport window, tears in my eyes
the water was always there

i close my eyes
the world around me will never change
