Spring
from we've been the garages by the garages
"the endless summer’s come and gone and we’re left in the weeds tracing out our old battle scars trying hard to breathe and i won’t forget about your words and i won’t forget the breeze i’ll remember how to say my name coughing if i need i try my best to keep it straight when you ask about my things stacked so neatly against the wall that aging faded ring remembering in tired prose stories about anything i haven’t felt whole in some time i will remember how to sing now you know how the leaves turn red and vibrant gold and rot in their places that lively green replaced with snow now that the winter’s settled in and we’ll never play that song again i don’t know if there’s more to this if there’s spring somewhere ahead now it’s gone and i don’t know what to do anymore cut loose, i’m adrift, and i’m lying on the floor there’s nothing left for me to say without a purpose, without a new song to play and i feel like i’m just wasted potential i’m still longing for something sentimental but the gods that we loved never gave us their loving so i’ve just got to keep going on now i know how the leaves turn red and vibrant gold and rot in their places that lively green replaced with snow now that the winter’s settled in and we’ll never play that song again i don’t know if there’s more to this if there’s spring somewhere ahead "
