It's time I got back on the road again,
Packed my suitcase and charged my phone
Harden my heart and double-tie my shoelaces
And head out west to the coast alone

I'm moving over the mountains
Kicked around like a tin can
Don't even have the time to phone in my shorthand
Wished I could make the rounds and say goodbyes and au revoirs
But my philodendron's wilting in the car,
So I'll fax them in

This freedom sometimes feels like a mistake,
A blessing and a curse,
Like winning the grand prize in the sweepstakes
And receiving a casket and a hearse
